Printing in Art & Design

About Art & Design Printing System

Art and Design has its own print credit system for printing and photocopying services. Your Student Card is used to store your printing credit. This Art & Design Printing credit is NOT linked too ther printing credit system in University. (ie. Library or ITS printing credit)

You can recharge your card at Cashier/ Recharge machine located in G1.10 - Printer/ Photocopier Room.

Hints to first time:
It may said "invaild" when you badge for the first time, please wait a few seconds and re-do badging again.

How to Print

1. Send your PDF files from a computer in labs
2. Go to a print job release station (in G1.10 or G1.29)
3. Scan your student card on card reader
4. Enter your PIN (or create PIN for 1st time user)
5. Select and release your print job(s)

Troubleshooting

Please try the following before seek help form Artdes IT Service Desk...

Error Messages/ Events Attempt/ report
Busy (Lexmark only) Printer is trying to load and print. No action requires
Change Empty Tray (Toshiba Only) Report to Helpdesk printer requires a empty tray change
Change toner or ink Report to Helpdesk for which printer requires a cartridge change
File Not Print/ Not Show on Release Station
  • Always confirm your page size and paper size in “File>Page Setup” and “Print> Properties”
  • Always flatten your Adobe file before you print
  • If you are having difficulty to print from Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign, please try to convert your file into PDF format
Out of Paper Please report to Artdes IT Servicedesk, do not attempt to fill paper yourself
Paper Jam Please report to Artdes IT Servicedesk, do not attempt to repair machine
Wrong Paper Size (Lexmark) Always confirm your page size and paper size in “File>Page Setup” and “Print> Properties” Delete the current job and resend your job again. Ensure the paper size (A3 or A4) and select “fit to printable area”
Wrong Paper Size (Toshiba) Always confirm your page size and paper size in “File>Page Setup” and “Print> Properties” Press “Job Status” on printer. If your file is the first in queue, you will need to delete this job and resend your file. Ensure the paper size (A3 or A4) and select “fit to printable area”.
