We would like to announce an exciting interdisciplinary event to be held at Monash University this month.

Out of Bounds: Art, Faith & Religiosity invites discussion of the complex ways in which faith and religiosity inform artistic practice. Over forty invited artists, academics and writers will offer their views, either in regard to their own practice or through their observation of the practice of others. Three internationally acclaimed speakers will present keynotes: Janine Antoni; Dr Leslie King-Hammond and Professor Saul Ostrow. Presentations will involve papers as well as installations, performances and screenings, offering rich and varied insights into the issues and themes. This event will challenge the institutional boundaries that have defined the traditional academy, recognising that the dynamics that engage faith and religiosity are currently being enacted within the contemporary cathedrals of sports stadiums such as Telstra Dome and multinational chains of home-wares/hardware stores such as IKEA and Bunnings and inviting the audience to participate in exploring t he shifting boundaries of private/public state/family, practice/ideals and love and meaning.
