Postgraduate Local Applicants

Local applicants are Australian citizens, holders of an Australian permanent resident’s visa and New Zealand citizens.

Coursework degrees

Applications for the Master of Design, Master of Multimedia, Master of Multimedia Design and Master of Visual Arts must apply directly to the Faculty. For more information on the application process, please refer to the Central Admissions Postgraduate Application website.

Mid-year enrolments for coursework applicants are only available for Master of Multimedia, Master of Multimedia Design and Master of Design.

There is a minimum English requirement  for all Monash University courses.

Application requirements:

Master of Design

A bachelors degree in art or design from Monash University or another recognised institution.

Applications should be accompanied by a folio of 10-15 pieces of recent, relevant work which may be on CD, as slides or as colour printouts, clearly numbered with a corresponding list of details attached.

Master of Multimedia

A bachelor degree in a discipline other than multimedia from Monash University or another recognised institution.

Master of Multimedia Design

A bachelor degree in any discipline from Monash University or another recognised institution.

Master of Visual Arts

A bachelor degree in art or design from Monash University or another recognised institution.

Applications should be accompanied by a folio of 10-15 pieces of recent, relevant work which may be on CD, as slides or a colour printouts, clearly numbered with a corresponding list of details attached.  A personal statement should be provided of no more than 200 words summarising the direction of their current practice, including materials, techniques and content.

Research degrees

Applications for the Master of Art, Master of Fine Arts and Master of Design must apply directly to the Faculty on the Faculty Application for admission.  If you wish to apply for a research postgraduate degree please use the Postgraduate Direct Application Form (pdf 121kb).

Round 2 closing date for research degrees is 31st January 2009 (for admission in March 2009). Fee-waived Research Training Scheme (RTS) places are available.

Doctor of Philosophy

Applicants for the Doctor of Philosophy must apply directly to the Faculty on the Monash Research Graduate School PhD application.  If you wish to apply, please use the Doctor of Philopsophy Application Form (rtf 2.1mb)
