Sculpture

Sculpture

sculpture has evolved over the centuries to become a rich and diverse practice

The Monash Sculpture studio's well-equipped, spacious and light-filled premises form the ideal environment in which to study one of the world's oldest artistic disciplines.   The Sculpture studio is sensitive to the fact that sculpture has evolved over the centuries to become a rich and diverse practice.

The Sculpture studio lecturers are all practicing sculptors, who bring a range of philosophies and teaching interests to the studio, from traditional approaches to more contemporary practices within a pluralistics discipline.

Early in their studies students focus on formal processes, moving on to experimentation with installation practice, ephemeral works and conceptual focus, all with the aim of extending and challenging their own perception of their work and the world they live in. Students will discover that the path from idea to finished sculptural form is complex, yet immensely rewarding.
