Undergraduate Fine Arts and Visual Arts

The primary aim of the Fine and Visual Arts courses at Monash Art & Design is to develop students into artists, providing the practical and creative skills appropriate to their individual potential and interests.

The Department encompasses six studios:

All of which are supported by specialist units in drawing, professional practice and the theory of art and design. Elective offerings open up possibilities of studying design and ideas beyond the chosen specialisation.

As professional visual artists, the staff of the Fine Arts Department bring individual expertise and dedication to their teaching, which reflects the diverse approaches found in contemporary visual culture.

The Bachelor of Fine Art provides a strong focus on each student's individual studio, whilst the Bachelor of Visual Arts is a broader course which enables study across multiple studios and can be taken as a double degree with Education, Arts or Business.
